Stop the Values Test | Canada Summer Jobs Petition
Stop the Values Test

The Vote

On March 19 Members of Parliament from all political parties voted on this Conservative Motion in the House of Commons:

That, in the opinion of the House, organizations that engage in non-political non-activist work, such as feeding the homeless, helping refugees, and giving kids an opportunity to go to camp, should be able to access Canada Summer Jobs funding regardless of their private convictions and regardless of whether or not they choose to sign the application attestation.

Conservative Members of Parliament voted ‘Yes’ to this Motion, to stand up for any Canadian who doesn’t want to sign Justin Trudeau’s “attestation”.

Liberal Members of Parliament, unfortunately, failed to stand up for Canadians’ Charter rights and voted ‘No’.

Watch the vote take place here:

Standing up against Trudeau’s values test / Contre le test de valeurs de Trudeau

UPDATE: Justin Trudeau’s Liberals just voted to impose their values test on Canadians. This means organizations must agree with Justin Trudeau’s personal beliefs to receive government funding. That’s not right. If your MP didn’t stand up for your charter rights tonight – don’t let them forget it.

VOTING NOW: Canada’s Conservatives are standing up for our charter rights. We won’t stand by while Justin Trudeau imposes his values test on Canadians and the thousands of community organizations that do so much good work across the country.

How will the Liberals vote on our motion?

“That, in the opinion of the House, organizations that engage in non-political non-activist work, such as feeding the homeless, helping refugees, and giving kids an opportunity to go to camp, should be able to access Canada Summer Jobs funding regardless of their private convictions and regardless of whether or not they choose to sign the application attestation.”

Canada’s Conservatives understand that that all Canadians should be treated equally, regardless of their personal faith or deeply-held beliefs.

If you’re unhappy that Justin Trudeau failed to stand up for Charter rights, and chose instead to impose his values test on Canadians, email him today and let him know.
